1 year

One year agao today I stopped smoking. It was attempt number 5, and I stopped becuase I had gotten sick and my throat was killing me. 1 week of patches, 6 weeks of lozenges, and then that was it. Smoking stopped. It has been a bit of a battle at times. Only 2 months ago I was so distraught and stressed out I almost went and bought a packet of cigarettes...but good sense got the better of me, and I bought bad food instead (go figure!).
I have not had a cigarette AT ALL in the past year. In previous quit attempts I have had cigarettes during my quit phase, so have failed, but this time, I have been so strong, and have not had any. I have even sat in a car while someone smoked, been around smokers at a party, and DID NOT partake. Admittedly I have passive smoked...but I think I am over that now.... and don't actually like the smell anymore.
I am VERY proud of myself that I have managed to quit smoking. The fact that I have piled on 20kg is not such a good thing, BUT I can now work on that and apply the willpower I used for quitting smoking to losing weight.
I have gone from some one who smoked lots of dope, smoked cigarettes and took other substances to someone who takes nothing at all..... and my only vice these days is coffee...which I drink too much of, and GOOD food which I eat too much of. And I certainly don't drink much, maybe 10 glasses of wine over a whole year, and that is all.
Good on me I think. And I think I can even start to call myself a non smoker.

Pat yourself on your back honey, you deserve it. Quitting anything takes a lot of guts and will power, and you have proved you can do anything you put your mind to.

Well done on your clean lifestyle!

Go girl!
