Just a quickie

Things are pretty flat out at the moment. I managed to get my assignment done on the weekend after much procrasinating, and handed it in last night. I'm falling behind in my studies cause work is so flat out.

I'm going camping with friends this weekend, but I don't really want to go, but can't pike out now. And off to QLD on the 12th.....

So much to do and so little time.

Eating = crap..... exercise = 0

I just need some time out..... I guess thats what QLD is for!!!

1 year

One year agao today I stopped smoking. It was attempt number 5, and I stopped becuase I had gotten sick and my throat was killing me. 1 week of patches, 6 weeks of lozenges, and then that was it. Smoking stopped. It has been a bit of a battle at times. Only 2 months ago I was so distraught and stressed out I almost went and bought a packet of cigarettes...but good sense got the better of me, and I bought bad food instead (go figure!).
I have not had a cigarette AT ALL in the past year. In previous quit attempts I have had cigarettes during my quit phase, so have failed, but this time, I have been so strong, and have not had any. I have even sat in a car while someone smoked, been around smokers at a party, and DID NOT partake. Admittedly I have passive smoked...but I think I am over that now.... and don't actually like the smell anymore.
I am VERY proud of myself that I have managed to quit smoking. The fact that I have piled on 20kg is not such a good thing, BUT I can now work on that and apply the willpower I used for quitting smoking to losing weight.
I have gone from some one who smoked lots of dope, smoked cigarettes and took other substances to someone who takes nothing at all..... and my only vice these days is coffee...which I drink too much of, and GOOD food which I eat too much of. And I certainly don't drink much, maybe 10 glasses of wine over a whole year, and that is all.
Good on me I think. And I think I can even start to call myself a non smoker.

Cat door & Study

So, the cats have their own door to go outside and come back in... but after yesterdays efforts, they are not too happy with it. I HOPE that they get used to it soon, or else they will be spending a lot of time outside....or inside!! They can be rather tempramental, so I hope that they get rid of the attitude soon.

Rest of the weekend was spent studying and not doing too much else.

I have been BAD regarding exercise and food. God know what I can do about it- I am going to try HARD to get on my bike tonight....but I just get so tired by the end of the day, and don't want to get all hot and sweaty!!!

Monday again, another long week of work. I even worked Saturday for a few hours..... I also took all our bottles back to the recycling depot on Sat - and I got $45 from them!! quite a tidy sum. Loving this 10c a bottle refund!!!

Brain Strain

So...as the title suggests my brain is under pressure. Actually its more than my brain, its my whole 'being'.

I no longer have a receptionist, so am doing 1.5 jobs at the moment. Plus searching for a new receptionist. My new position does not start until November, but I kinda feel I'm doing some of it now. I did a 12 hour day yesterday, of which 7 of it was spent at a Project planning course.

I feel like I could crack if someone asks me to do one more thing....I know I need to be able to multitask, I do that often, but there is WAY too much going on at the moment.
Plus I am studying, and falling behind. I need a holiday...oh thats right, I have one booked in less than a month, and I have SO MUCH TO DO before then.
I am having a whinge, cause I'm ready to scream.....HELP!!

From Busy to FLAT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!

So, things were cruising along yesterday - the suddenly WHAM...I was hit with something unexpected at work, and now I'm about to get VERY BUSY - I mean headless chook running around type busy.

I have just gained a promotion - I am now General Manager. I started out as receptionist/Office Manager, and am now General Manager of a company where I basically run the company and the 2 main departments within it.

Holy Crap....how things have progressed in 7.5 years.

I am also meeting up with a potential mentor next week - not too sure what I want out of that relationship, but its a step in the right direction to further my career.

All I need to do now is lose 20+kilos and find some officey type clothes and I will be set!!

ONWARD!!! but still gald its Friday.

Lazy but busy

So, I've been lazy on the exercise front this week - but have been absolutley flat out at work, starting at 7 and often not finishing till 6. And honestly, I have not had the energy at the end of the day to even get on my bike.

I missed my Tuesday walk due to going to a course, but am going walking today with my workmate. And tomorrow night will be my visit to the markets, so I'll park a fair way away, and lug all my fruit and vegies back to the car...that should constitute an hour of exercise.

I have had a good week at work - flat out, but things have certainly gone my way. Can't say too much in case this is read by certain people....but I'm a happy lady.

I lost a kilo this week too. So am happy with that. THis week has not been so good regarding low carbs. Tuesday at my course was rolls for lunch, Wed was sandwiches (boss bought lunch), and dinners have involved rice (Chinese takaway Tues cause I didn't get home till 8:30). Even today's left overs has a bit of rice, and dinner tonight will be a baked potato. So I'm going to try hard for a low carb day tomorrow. I find I still have to have cereal for breakfast - having that at 6 then going to work - I need something substantial. This morning was bad - 3 x wholemeal crumpets.... BUT at least I'm only doing fruit in between meals now, or a small can of tuna. And I feel so much better NOT eating so many carbs. Yesterday after luch I felt bloated from too much bread - so that was certainly a good sign.

I THINK I have my mojo back - and having spring arrive I think has helped me along a bit - just gotta get that exercise back up!!!

bpm = 152

Twice this week I have used my Polar heart rate monitor. On Wed I got an average bpm of 147 in 40mins, and this morning I got an average of 152bpm in 35mins. So I worked pretty hard this morning on my spin bike. its nice to finally be able to use the bike and actually do some exercise. this week has consisted of:
Mon - 40 min walk
Tues - 30min walk
Wed - 30min spin
Thurs - 30min walk
Fri - 1.5hour walk (slow)
Sat - 30min spin
Now looking at that, it the best exercise I've done in months and I feel great for it.

My food has been mostly good htis week - low carb high protein. my only bad things were chocolate cake (no icing), pizza (at work) and 2 x biscuits. And considering how I have been eating prior to this week- i'm really really happy with my efforts!!!

not sure if I will lose any weight - but at least I have eaten better thatn I have for months, and actually exercised every day. Good on me I think!!!

This weekend is studying for most of today, watching the footy - go crows!, and maybe some weeding in the front yard, its looking a bit feral.

my dad is in Melb, so we're only going to Andrew's dads for lunch tomorrow, and then back into study. Gotta get ahead as soon as I can so I can have an enjoyable holiday in Oct.

Not much happening

Weekend was pretty boring - spent most of it curled up on the lounge with a book or studying.

Went for a walk last night with my mate, and going again today with a work mate, and planning to get on the spin bike when I get home tonight - all my ailments are feeling much better.

Tried to really cut down on my carb intake yesterday - I only had cereal for breakfast, and some pumkin and sweet potato for dinner. And cause I still crave sweet stuff I munched on some dried dates....when I plugged that into calorie king and discovered 15 dried dates is the same amount of calories as 200g of kangaroo steak...I decided to lay off the dates!!

So, going to again try to cut back on my carb intake today. I still had cereal for breakfast, but have a salad & tuna planned for lunch, a few apples and a banana for snacks. Dinner, I haven't decided what I am doing yet. Possibly a pork stirfry with no noodles. And an early night!

I'm trying really hard this week to do something different and not pig out!!!
