Happy new year & all the jazz

end of 2009 is probably a good thing. I haven't had the greatest year, but it certainly hasn't been the worst year either (that was 2008).
I haven't consciously made any new year resolutions, but I am planning to get back on the weight loss wagon. My walking is increasing week by week, and I'm feeling much better for it. I've been walking for 50mins to an hour at a time 3 to 4 times a week, and even getting up early on my holidays to get in some walking before the hot days settle in. Once I'm back at work, then the food side of things will fall into place. I have a goal to reach by my birthday, and will be very disappointed if I don't achieve it.
Tonight will be a quiet one. Its 41 degrees here today, and I hate hate hate hot weather. I wish so hard it was winter again. So I'll be sheltering under the airconditioner, and probably watching telly all night....this suits me just fine.
wishing you all a Happy new Year, and that 2010 brings you much happiness, and joy.

time for an update

So its been a while since I have been blogging. Reading plenty of blogs, but not inspired to write much lately. Had a great time in Melb with my friend Becy, and we went to the aquarium, and on the puffing billy (old steam train), and generally had a nice time going out for lunches and dinner and catching up on gossip!!

Another King Penguin - they were so cute!

As much as I'm not keen on Melb as a city, I had a great time with Bec, and did heaps of walking and shopping!! Spent too much money, but got some really nice shoes and a few clothes. All in all a great weekend.

I also met my favourite author in Nov - Diana Gabaldon. She did a talk at a library in Mount Barker and my sister and I went along. We both really enjoyed her talking about her life and how she became a writer, and how the Outlander series began. It was a great night, and something I will always remember. I'm about 100 pages from finishing the new book she released in September, and then we have to wait for another 3 years for the next one!!!

Me and Diana - and I got my book signed!!

All in all it was a good November. I got most of my Chrisco hamper - just waiting on one more thing, and have 2 freezers full of food. I just need to prepare it all in a healthy manner!!

I have started walking again, and my achillies seems to be holding up OK. I'm trying to do 2 or 3 walks a week of about 45min to 1 hour, and so far am feeling much better for it. Feeling very very unfit, but otherwise, doing OK. just have to get through Christmas now, and admittedly, I don't have much Christmas cheer this year...just can't be bothered really - and I guess if i had kids it would be a bit different....but since I don't I'll stick to being the Christmas grouch!!!

Looking forward to November!!

Next month has lots going on, and I'm looking forward to it so much!!

On the 10th November, my sister and I are going to a meet and greet with one of my favourite authors, Diana Gabaldon. Her latest book was released at the end of September, and we have been waiting for it for so long!!! Diana writes a series about a woman who goes back in time to the Scottish Highlands in the mid 1700's, and gets stuck there for a few years, and ends up marrying a scotsman.... the 7 books take us on journey's through time, through war, over land and over sea, to the West Indies, and finally to America.... and the new book sees them head back to Scotland. I'm about 120 pages into the new book, An Echo in the Bone, and am really enjoying it.

On the 12th of November I'm off to Melbourne for 4 days to visit my best friend. Andrew is staying at home, so it will be nice to have a weekend away on my own...well with my best mate!! I think we'll have a nice girlie weekend, and it will be some nice to spend a few days with her. This is the friend that went to Ireland for 2.5 years, and has only come back this year, and then headed to Melbourne to live. Looking forward to my holiday so much!!!

Then on the 19th november, Andrew, myself, and a friend of mine are off to see Nickelback at the Adelaide entertainment centre. We saw them a few years ago, and they put on the best show with lots of Pryotechnics...so we are looking forward to that so much!!

And finally Chrisco arrives on the 25th November!!. I'm taking that day off work, so I can be home when they drop it off. I just have to do a freezer clean out between now and then!! I have heaps of meat and frozen vegies coming, so I will need all the room I can get!!

PHHHEEEWWWWW!!! It might not seem much, but for me, this is a fairly busy month. We're also going to see the truck racing on the 1st of November... I'm such a rev head!!!!

Christmas is HOW far away?

So I decided to go shopping on Saturday at the local complex, and wandered in through Myers.... being that I was sick and all I wasn't really paying much attention until suddenly I was overcome by Christmas carols. What the hell I thought, its only September!! Low and behold there were christmas trees and ornaments and twinkling lights for as for as the eye could see! I was in a state of disbelief. It wasn't even the end of September (26th), and already the decorations were up and about, and reminding me that the year is almost over AGAIN!!!!!

I quickly hurried through the trees and ran up the escalators in order to get away from the reminder that another year was slowly coming to a close. Off I went shopping, tried on a beautiful $300 dress, but couldn't justify the cost for just one night. So ended up with an on sale (reduced by $70) dress for a grand total of $80, and then a few other bits and pieces all from Myers. Myers have a great 'larger' woman section, and it has recently expended its range, so I think I tried on about 15 different things, and walked away with about 5. Not bad for someone who hates shopping!! The dress is for a black tie dinner I'm going to next week, so I should look nice.

Leaving Myers and heading into the mall I found another shop that catered for the 'larger' woman and ended up with a pair of pants, so all in all it was a good shopping trip for clothes. I really only intended to look at dresses, and was supposed to just buy paint, but I kinda got carried away (which does NOT happen often). My motto these days is 'if it fits well, then buy it!'

So off I wandered to Target, and guess what was in their store.... MORE christmas decorations. What is the shopping world coming to!! Give it a few years and they won't bother putting the stuff away... might as well leave it out for the whole year.

I bought my paints and headed off home. Misson accomplished, paints bought, dress bought, and Christmas decorations left behind in the shops where they belong. I'll think about it again around the 20th of December.... when Christmas will really be 'just around the corner!!'

Back again

so since my last post I've done the Pink concert, the jimmy barnes concert, and been to Melbourne! Pink was good, but not fantastic cause she didn't do part of her show and that was disappointing. Jimmy was great... I was deaf for 4 days afterwards, but loved hte concert that went for 2.5 hours. Melb was fun, Andrew and I had a good weekend, and enjoyed going to Etihad stadium for the Crows v Carlton game. We did a tour of the MCG as well which was surprisingly really good. Caught up with a friend and ate lots food.

Speaking of food, I'm still fat, and not much is happening with the diet thing. I've had some blood tests taken this week to make sure I'm generally in good health, and get the results back next week. I also have an appointment with an ENT in a few weeks. My nose has been playing up a lot lately and I have concerns that there is something wrong. Hopefully it is just blocked, and needs to be drained or something.

Andrew and I nearly broke up, but have decided to stay together for now. We had the first really honest open discussion that I can remember, and it was so refreshing to finally have him talk!! I just hope it happens more often.

Work sucks arse, and I'm really really close to quitting. I've done my resume, and plan to start applying for jobs in the next week or so. its probably not the nest time to be moving jobs, but I'm so unhappy most of the time. I guess I'll see what happens when the bosses wife goes on holiday. If things manage to settle down I might reconsider my options..... but I'm getting too unhappy.

Not much else is going on. Looking forward to day light savings so I can start doing some more walking... not too long to go now!!

still here!!

No, I haven't disappeared... just not blogging for a while. Weight wise things are not good. Getting bigger and bigger, and just can't control it.... (as I sit here eating a tim tam!!). Well maybe its not wanting to control it cause I enjoy yummy bad food too much!! Anyways, I'll get it together soon.

Andrew's little laser cracked its head 2 weeks ago, so we have been car shopping. He's ended up with a big fat loan, but a very nice VZ holden commodore. I'm very pleased wiht it, and am glad to see him in something a bit safer. It might chew a bit more petrol, but its a much better car.

Work is busy, but I'm doing OK. Not feeling as crap as what I did in my last entry. I'm off to see PINK on Monday at the entertainment centre and am looking forward to it so so much!! Then off to see Jimmy Barnes on the 15th and then off to Melbourne at the end of the month for the weekend to go to the footy. I've treated us to a fancy hotel and hope to have a really nice weekend.... I need the break for at least a day away from work.

Aside form the eating stuff, things are Ok at the moment. I might not be writing much here, but am certainly reading everyones!! Its good to be feeling a bit more cheery.

MIA

Yep, have been missing in action for a while - life is not going so great - have not really wanted to blog about it.

Feeling sad and depressed does not make for good reading.

Food has been good this week - for a change!! Have been too busy to eat at times, and am starting to realise that eating does not not make me feel better, so I just don't do it as much now - there is not a lot that really satisfies the WANT I have - so I think the WANT is something different - I want to feel better and happier, but food is not the answer to that....And I think this is finally a good realisation to have.

Anyhoo, I hope things will lighten up soon.
